I-95 reopened in Cumberland County, North Carolina, after truck accident

An overnight wreck involving two trucks caused some early morning lane closures Tuesday on Interstate 95 northeast of Fayetteville, North Carolina according to the state Highway Patrol.

Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed until nearly 8 a.m.

The wreck occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday when tractor-trailer driver, Carlos Bolden, 46, of St. Louis, stopped for a pickup truck driver that had run out of gas in the middle of I-95.

The pickup driver, Charles Alphin, 35, of Dunn, was trying to push the truck off of the interstate.

A tanker-truck hauling pig blood swerved to miss the pickup and sideswiped the tractor-trailer. The tanker hit the guardrail and caught fire.

Debris hit several other vehicles, troopers said.

The tanker-truck driver, Frank Graves, 56, of Goldsboro, suffered burns on 40 percent of his lower body. He was being treated at the North Carolina Jaycees Burn Center at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Alphin is charged with impeding traffic, troopers said.
