HEARNE, TX. — A fatal accident on Tuesday, Oct 23, involving an 18 wheeler traveling south on Highway 6 and white Mustang traveling north, has claimed the life of 47-year old Jon Raymond Ratliff from Waco, Texas.

A man driving a white Mustang was killed when he was driving north on Texas Highway 6 between Hearne and Bryan, TX and crossed over the center of the road into the path of a southbound semi truck on October 23, 2012.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. between Spring Creek and FM 2549 near the weigh station in the southbound lanes of Highway 6. The Hearne Police department received a 911 call shortly after informing them that a man in a white Mustang was driving erratically on Highway 6.

Map showing location of fatal semi truck accident on October 23, 2012 on Texas Highway 6 (U.S. Highway 190) about 6.5 miles south of Hearne and about one mile north of the weigh station between Hearne and Bryan.

The trucker, 52 year old Richard Nathaniels of Bryan, said he was looking out for the northbound vehicle because he heard other truckers in the area on the CB radio complaining about a Mustang driving all over the roadway.

Nathaniels was taken to St. Joseph Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Investigators plan to do an autopsy on the deceased driver of the Mustang to determine if drugs or alcohol was involved.
