SNOQUALMIE, WA – An 18 wheeler accident occurred on late Wednesday, July 7, when a semi truck slammed into a passenger car on State Route 18 south of here which claimed the lives of two people. Snoqualmie is located about 50 miles south of Everett, Washington.<\/p>\n

Washington State Patrol Trooper Julie Startup said\u00a0 the driver of the car was making a U-turn on the highway near Raging River and the semi was unable to stop in time. Below is a map of the location.<\/p>\n

Seattle PI reports:<\/p>\n

The driver of the car, a 65-year-old Snoqualmie man, and the passenger, a 47-year-old Enumclaw woman, were both fatally injured. Their names have not been released.<\/p>\n

The semi truck driver was not injured, and investigators said he would likely not be cited.<\/p>\n

Startup said the driver of the car had just picked up the woman along the side of the road. She had been in another vehicle that had broken down, and she flagged down the passing pickup so they could go get help.<\/p>\n

Trooper Julie Startup called it a tragic situation.<\/p>\n

“People trying to help each other out, and it just really went poorly this morning and unfortunately two people were lost,” she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
