THONOTOSASSA, FL. – The driver of a Ford Expedition was killed on Thursday morning, April 6, after his SUV collided with a dump truck on US 301 in Thonotosassa, Florida. The city of Thonotosassa is located approximately 5.4 miles north of Hillsborough and 14.5 miles northeast of Tampa.<\/p>\n

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Ford Expedition was traveling southbound on US 301 north of Franklin Road, when for unknown reasons, it veered into the northbound lane.<\/p>\n

The Expedition drove into the path of the oncoming dump truck, and the two vehicles collided head-on. The Expedition then became engulfed in flames, and the driver died at the scene.<\/p>\n

The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n

The identity of the killed driver has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
