HALTOM CITY, TX — A semi truck carrying produce and traveling westbound on Northeast Loop 820, veered off the highway and into a creek bed Tuesday morning, April 17, causing the driver of the truck to suffer minor injuries, according to officials.<\/p>\n

Both the Haltom City and North Richland Hills police arrived at the scene.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred at about 11 a.m. in the 5600 block of Northeast Loop 820 where authorities, due to heavy traffic, called for a helicopter ambulance to take the injured driver to a nearby hospital shutting down the highway.<\/p>\n

Star-Telgram <\/a>reports:<\/p>\n

A Haltom City firefighter also was injured when he hit his head trying to extricate the driver, said Cpl. Steve Reiss of the Haltom City Police Department.<\/p>\n

The firefighter was taken to a local hospital.<\/p>\n

Police had not released any information on what caused the crash. The truck spilled a small amount of fuel, Reiss said.<\/p>\n

By 2 p.m., one lane of traffic was moving in each direction. Police did not know when the highway would be fully open.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Haltom City is located in Tarrant County, Texas and is about 3 mile southwest of Richland Hills and about 8 miles northeast of Fort Worth, Texas.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation at this time.<\/p>\n
