AUSTIN, TX. — A semi truck accident involving a passenger vehicle occurred on Thursday, August 30, that temporarily shut down the westbound Texas 71 just east of U.S. 183 in East Austin, according to the police.<\/p>\n

The accident happened at about 8:30 a.m. when the 18 wheeler tried to cross all lanes of traffic, jack-knifed and eventually rolled on its side.<\/p>\n

Senior officer Veneza Bremner told the media that at least two people were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with injuries but that they were not considered life-threatening.<\/p>\n

Austin fire crews were called to the scene to clean a spill, Bremner said, though she did not know what the truck was carrying. According to the fire department, no chemicals or hazardous materials were reported spilled.<\/p>\n

The Texas 71 was open and clear by early afternoon.<\/p>\n
