<\/p>\nTRINIDAD, Colo. — A truck driver from Mesquite, Texas was killed on Tuesday, Nov. 13, when a UPS semitrailer rolled near Trinidad, Colorado.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred at around 2 p.m. on Interstate 25, about six miles north of Trinidad, according to media reports.<\/p>\n
KOAA.com reported that the semi was pulling two box trailers and was headed north when it drove off the left side of the road into the median.<\/p>\n
The truck driver was identified as 52-year old James Smith of Mesquite, Texas, who died at the scene, according to a Colorado State Patrol press release.<\/p>\n
A passenger in the truck, identified as 43-year old Jeffrey Poland of Heath, Texas, was extricated and treated for his injuries at Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad.<\/p>\n
In a press release it stated that the rig drove through the median, across southbound I-25 lanes and onto the shoulder, through a grass ditch and onto the frontage road on the highway’s west side, rolling a half time, coming to rest on its top.<\/p>\n
“The trailers stayed connected and one did spill its cargo into the grass pasture,” the release said.<\/p>\n
The incident remains under investigation at this time.<\/p>\n
