The big rig was a delivery truck for a lumber yard that was traveling on New Hope Rd. Just after 2:00 p.m. while making a left turn to go north on 8th St, a car ran a red light and crashed into the 18 wheeler’s fuel tank. The crash ruptured the tank and cause a large fuel spill at the intersection, spilling about 50 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel.<\/p>\n

An article at the KNWA News website<\/a> had details of the story:<\/p>\n “Police say a tractor-trailer was making a left turn from New Hope Road North onto Eighth Street when another car ran a red light and collided directly with the truck’s gas tank, which had just been filled at a nearby gas station.”<\/p>\n First responders arrived at the scene to contain the fuel leak and used absorbant material to contain the spill.
