The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Chocktaw and the Central Throughway. An 18 wheeler traveling north on the Central Throughway was making a left turn onto Chocktaw Drive on a protected green arrow when a southbound minivan crashed into the big rig.<\/p>\n

The driver of the minivan, 27 year-old Jackie Addison from Denham Springs, LA was fatally injured in the crash. There were two children in the minivan who survived the accident.<\/p>\n
The truck driver was also injured in the accident but there are no other details on the extent his injuries.<\/p>\n
It is assumed that Addison must have run a red light, although it is not certain. The Central Throughway is brand new and opened on July 11, 2013, only 4 days before the accident. When there is a protected green arrow in one direction, there is supposed to be a red light in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.<\/p>\n
