BIG SPRING, TX – A semi truck crashed into a bridge support on I-20 in Howard County, TX on November 5 just west of Big Spring causing the overpass at Farm to Market 2599 to collapse. Big Spring is located in Howard County, Texas in the west-central part of the state about 39.5 miles northeast of Midland.<\/p>\n

The accident happened late Tuesday night, Nov. 5, 2013 on the westbound I-20 at FM 2599 between Stanton and Big Spring. A tractor trailer lost control and ran into a bridge support.<\/p>\n

The crash knocked the pillars over and brought down a section of the overpass which landed on the Interstate below. A second 18 wheeler then crashed into some of the debris from the first impact. One of the big rigs was a FedEx truck. Neither truck driver were eported to have been injured in the accident and there was no hazardous materials spill.<\/p>\n

Traffic was diverted off the Interstate between FM 2599 and State Highway 176. Westbound lanes of I-20 were closed all day Wednesday and Thursday following.<\/p>\n
