All lanes were open as of 3 o'clock this afternoon after a tractor-trailer and tanker truck collided this morning along Route 33 North in Bethlehem Township in Pennsylvania and left the highway's embankment between the Freemansburg Avenue and William Penn Highway exits.
It happened shortly before 6 this morning. One of the trucks overturned, but rescue workers said neither driver suffered serious injuries.
One of the rigs was hauling dried cement. The other carried carbon dioxide. Emergency radio reports indicated no hazardous materials spill, and traffic continued to pass in both directions.
Officials said lane closures were required as workers tried to upright and remove the overturned truck.
Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast report Luis Gonzalez, 28, of Woodhaven, N.Y., lost control of his truck due to possible mechanical failures and struck the driver's side of a truck driven by Ricky Lee Sherer, 50, of Kunkletown, Pa. Police said Sherer was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
