WEST SENECA, NY: A young Buffalo suburban woman was killed early Saturday morning when she was hit head on by a semi truck that had drifted into her lane. The truck accident occurred on Transit Road near Southwestern Boulevard in West Seneca, New York. The truck accident area is in the northwest section of the state in the Buffalo metro region. The area is near the Canadian border, 103 miles southeast of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and 370 miles northwest of New York City, NY.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, 27 year old Carrie L. Brzezicki of Orchard Park, NY was traveling south on Transit Road. As she approached the area where the road becomes Southwestern Blvd., a tractor trailer traveling northbound suddenly drifted and crossed over the center line, slamming head-on into Ms. Brzezicki’s car.

The driver of the tractor trailer has been identified as 30 year old Bobbie Jo Fenno of Erie, Pennsylvania. Police had not yet determined if Fenno had attempted any maneuvers to avoid plowing into Ms. Brzezicki.

The West Seneca Fire Department responded to the accident scene and found Ms. Brzezicki trapped in her car. Emergency workers used tools to extricate Ms. Brzezicki from her badly damaged vehicle.

Once emergency workers had Ms Brzezicki freed from her car she was treated by members of the Rural/Metro Medical Services, who had also responded to the truck accident scene, and then they transported her to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo, a few miles away. The West Seneca police department reported that Ms. Brzezicki apparently suffered life threatening injuries in the truck accident and later succumbed at the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Ms. Brzezicki was reportedly a registered nurse working at a local hospital, and was described by those who knew her as “dedicated to helping others”.

Bobbie Jo Fenno, the truck driver, has been cited for failure to keep right. It is unknown at this time if he was an independent operator of the tractor trailer, or was employed by a trucking company.

The West Seneca Police are continuing to investigate the truck collision. There were no reports regarding the road and weather conditions at the time of the accident, and it is unknown if conditions may have contributed to the head-on truck accident. There were also no reports at this time of the condition of the truck driver after the head on accident and if he was impaired in any way.

The investigation remains open and additional charges may be brought against Mr. Fenno upon its completion.
