Details are sketchy, but it appears that a southbound semi truck crossed over the grassy median and into the northbound lanes of traffic where it struck on oncoming SUV, a Ford Expedition. A motorcyclist then crashed into the 18 wheeler and was killed at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Expedition was critically injured and was transported to Lakeland Regional Trauma Center in Lakeland, Fl.

Thick fog and smoke were a factor in this accident. Prior to the crash, there was a 60 acre controlled burn just west of the crash site. The combination of smoke and fog lead to low visibility.
