According to witnesses, the trucker appeared to be in some kind of medical distress as his semi truck veered to the left and crashed through a guard rail into the median.

Fortunately, the tractor trailer came to a stop just before it would have plunged over a bridge in the space between the northbound and southbound lanes.

The trucker was identified as 53 year-old Johnny Adkins, from Columbus, GA. He was driving a truck for JNJ Express out of Memphis, TN.

According to Police, CPR was administered to the trucker before being taken to the hospital. There are no details as to his condition, although it was reported that he had a pulse when he was transported away and that he was responsive when he arrived at the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
